We are anchored at Magdelena Bay

which is 152 miles north of Cabos San Lucas.  This is a small little fishing village that was ravaged by a hurricane a few years ago and has not recovered yet.  There is a school with about twenty kids,a nice new church and very minimal provisions in the the little grocery store, which is basically part of someone's house.  It is all pretty sparse, with many buildings in disrepair  all of which are very small  and powered by a generator that is shut off at 10 pm.  There is a cantina that appears to serve the working fisherman regular meals as well as provides cervezes and food for us gringos.  Everyone is very friendly and very willing to chat in broken and minimal English with us not doing much better with our Spanish.

One certainly can appreciate our beautiful Canadian neighbourhoods and amenities.............we only need to be as happy as they are with so little.

Claes and I had a chore day and got a few things accomplished.  Tomorrow we will finish installing the short wave radio and I will do tons of laundry.  I actually went through our wardrobe today and puled some of the warmer items and either but them in the "give a way" bag or tucked them under the bed for later use.  The weather is getting warmer and warmer so the needs are changing rather quickly.  We read that there is definitily a Walmart in Cabos so will likely check them out for some lighter things.  I actually put together a number of things to trade with folks down the way.........some clothes for some lobster.  Works for me.

Spoke with our in-law-kids tonight!
Yeah we had Internet so called the kids and their spouses answered.  It was great to talk with them.  They all live such exciting lives and are busy so it is good once in awhile to do a one on one.  Check out the pictures as we introduce them to you

First this is  Greg Newman, Tanyas' fella. Greg is a commercial fisherman and is working on his ships pilots licence.  He is also a avid hunter and great skier.  He is super dad and great partner to our eldest daughter Tanya.

Our next son in law is Doug Boese in Powell River.  He is a professional driver for a cement company and has his own Hot Tub business.  Doug loves to fish and hunt as well and he and Cristas' four boys keep him very busy.  He is a great dad and avid sports enthusiasts, loving to curl and ski.

Our one and only daughter in law Sofie, is a brand new mom and devoted nurse.  She loves animals and has a wee hobby farm with our son Ryan in Powell River.  She is  a very active little lady and loves horse back riding as well snow boarding. Her passion these days is her family!

Thanks to the three of you for loving our kids and raising our grandchildren...........you are doing an awesome job!  God bless you for that.

Mom and  Dad Petri..
