Katie Kat

For those of you who know us , you know we love our KATZ.  Taking a trip such as this with two of them has been an experience in itself!  They have both been really good.  Now Miss Katie, was a special cat.  She came off the street in Courtenay to live with us two  and a half years ago.  She was not very healthy then but with lots of love and Vet bills she came around and blossomed into the Princess of Kye Bay.
Joey just wanted to be friends but she would have no part in it.  I tried to explain to him that she had no Cat friend skills, he being such a social butterfly with other cats as well as humans.

Katie was awesome on the boat.  She loved it and was always first to try something new.........like fall in the water.  HAHAHAH!  Seriously she did really well on board.  Through the storms and boisterous times she just hunkered down in the captains suite and rode it out.  She loved it cause she had lots of "lap time"  with her favourite person... Claes.  Oh she liked me but Claes was special.

Like I mentioned she has never been a healthy girl and I noticed a protrusion in her belly when we were travelling  from Port Angeles.   She had done really well --staying close and never really leaving the boat much and if she did she was not far. She did love to check out the oldest boat in the harbour though.

The day we were traveling here and when we got here she was acting very strange.........she took right off and I had a heck of time keeping her on the boat.  I figured out that she was not well--throwing up a lot like she did that time at Kye Bay.   Then on Sunday morning she just walked up the dock.... I followed her and she was crying --in pain I figure...........she just kept going and went under a building....would not come out and then when we got back from church she was gone.   We called--walked--searched but no Katie. All week we have been looking and asking folks but no Katie.  So, we are sadly missing her.

She was a good girl even though she was a bit of "b----"  with Joey.  She definitely had an attitude.  We console ourselves with knowing that we gave her an extra couple of years and a trip to Santa Cruz! The other night I had a dream.  I was walking along  the river just across from here and I looked up and there she was drinking.  She looked at me all clear eyed and pretty.......perfect like she used to be.  And  I woke up.  (I figure God gave me that dream to ease  our sorrow and to reminds that He is taking care of her.  She is having lap time with HIM now.)

  1. So sorry for you lost of little Katie. Like you said, she is probably enjoying some nice lap time with Him at home. Hugs and kisses from the Ellestads.
