Katie May Kat Laid to Rest

At the end of a beautiful fall day a young man, who we later found out was named Diaz, sauntered over to ask Claes if we had a cat.  "Yes, we do. We actually had two," replied Claes explaining that we assumed the other cat, Katie had been sick and disappeared.

Diaz and his friend had gone out the day before for a short sail and discovered our Katie curled up in the bow of his little "old" boat. It was actually given to him and he works on it in between  a job on the dock  and a few short day trips.  He was very considerate to spend time with us and explained that they gave her a sailors burial at sea!

Katie always liked to hide. Since we have lived on board, she would  at every opportunity upon  arrival  at a dock  find the oldest boat and  "hide".  It was just one of the things that she did to show her independence.  She did not stay long but she did enjoy hiding on us. We are so thankful now that we can think that she just fell asleep;  putting her to rest.  We can quit looking and searching every time we walk up the dock; knowing  eases our sorrow.  Thank you Dias. Thank You God!
