A Month Since We Have Come Back to the Land!

Have to say that it did take most of that time to settle in.  The quick pace and cold air was difficult to "warm" up to as we certainly had begun to acclimatize to  the Cruiser life; enjoying the freedom and ease of simple day to day living had become very comfortable.  The comfort in knowing that our children/grandchildren and friends are near by is the most treasured reward for coming back to Canada.
The weather has been intermittent with lots of beautiful days of sunshine and blue sky and lately some spring rain.   The gardeners and animals are appreciating the moisture and as I sit this morning looking out at this view I hear the robins chirping away, the blue herons landing and doing the sulking stroll of the beach for food.  The back portion of the property boarders on wooded areas owned by the DND (department of national defence) and is home to a number of eagles.  They too are talking away this morning.  I have seen a number of black crows but have not heard  their incessant chatter of late--that  will come with the heat when the community  of crows  arrive.  They are a very social bunch and become rather vocal.

So here we are at Kye Bay beginning to get our land legs back even for a short time of six months and are getting excited about the up and coming summer.  I must  tell you  that Kye Bay Resort is one of  the Comox Valleys' best kept secret! The nine quint cottages  have offered a safe family facility  to generations of folks for many many years. Some folks spend the winter here as they are in transition as we rent the units by the month from September to June.  In the spring we usually have a few available cabins for daily or weekly retreats as well.  Folks from all over the world have sat and treasured this beautiful inspiring and healing location. In the months of July and August folks share  time  summer after summer.  This experience  has lent itself to memory building summers  year after year. It truly is a unique spot as there are very few properties left like Kye Bay on the Island and or  our west coast as  it remains affordable and at the same time cozy.

Along with our friend/boss Roz we have been working on the grounds  making new flower beds and tearing apart others.  There is a time for that and a time for every season.  Right? Digging in the dirt is one of my passions and  Joey of course is helping.  I must confess I am not an expert gardener but I truly do enjoy digging and cleaning the beds and over the years have improved my skills in  the garden.  (I have had a lot of inspiration and help from my siblings as they are all excellent gardeners). Come see for yourself that the garden at the beach is  beginning to look pretty good. The rose on the right reminds me of the old fashioned roses I grew up with--it has a scent! Yes, the rain is a blessing!  Thank You God for that final touch.

This last week my little sister Angela came to visit.  We had a great time. She is such a delight to be with.  Her favourite pass time is doing jig saw puzzles so needless to say there is a one thousand piece puzzle sitting in our office/sitting room.  I might add that the day she arrived she began and finished a 300 piece by early the next day.  She brightened our long weekend  smiling sitting at the living room table looking out onto the waters of the bay  putting piece after piece together and letting out a yelp of pleasure as she found yet another piece.  It is a tough one and I am bound to finish it...........I will let you know how it goes.  Please check out the photo gallery for details of our visit.  Thanks for coming to see us Angela!!!!

  •  Saturday her and I held up the Bedard sister tradition and went GSing.............you got it.  Garage Sale-ing!  I found some incredible deals for the resort  and was thrilled as this is the first time in along time that I actually need the things I bought.
  • Sunday  was our time at Living Hope our Faith Family which Angela so enjoys. I am sure it is a combination o the good music and the warm welcome that everyone gives her....they all seem to remember Angela.  She is unforgettable for those that meet her....so loving and so social!
  • The evening of Sunday we got together with Doug and Annette my other sister for a nice supper and relaxing time enjoying the view of this lovely cabin.  It was difficult to see Angela  go Monday  but knowing that she has such an incredible home to go to lifts my spirits.  Thanks Kristy and Mike!

So that brings you up to date. I hope that this has not been too lengthy...........but then again I guess you have the choice to skim over or delete it all together.   Feel free to do that if I do get too wordy!   Claes and I are  looking forward to a visit with friends to a cabin on a lake,  some of our cruiser friends are planning to come visit soon ...........trips over to Powell River are on the horizon which means more grand kid time.   I will fill you in on all that as it happens
