Sunday on board the White Shell II

A few days have passed since I last wrote and it is Sunday again. How does that happen? So quickly too!

We finished our 27 hour sail and arrived in Santa Marie Friday morning around 11:00, tidied up and had a wee rest after which we hoisted the dingy into the water and headed for the beach. As you can see from the pictures there was quiet a lot of surf and the breakers went from one end of the beach to the other. As we approached them we talked out plan, counting the amount of waves and waiting for the right moment to run for it so to speak. We were a little anxious but once we were running up the beach, with the dingy in tow, our selves wet we could hardly contain the laughing. After a little time to catch our breaths we headed up the beach. And what a beautiful beach it was! Just so gorgeous, with soft clean sand with not a soul in sight! Claes enjoyed beaching combing and found a few treasures when we came across a lost set of nets………….for once I had a knife in my pack sack and he cut a few floats to use at a latter date. Doug, you and the boys would have loved it! It was a great time and we finally felt the heat of the sun. Now returning into those breakers were a different story. Again we counted them as they do have a pattern and after sharing a beer on the edge of the dingy we began to pull it towards the water. We were well prepared as to what and who would do what and which…………and as we in anticipation watched –looking at each other and inching ourselves and the dinghy closer and closer-- Claes gave the word and away we went. I being the shortest had a little challenge jumping inside and Claes expertly got the motor running and up and away we pushed……..right into a fairly large wave and over we went……………laughing as we wiped the sea salted water from our faces………..wet right down to our toes. (No worry! My camera was well hidden in my pack). We laughed and laughed and head for home.

The night was relaxing and we enjoyed my first attempt at Enchiladas………which were rather tasty. We enjoyed a bottle of wine ( a gift from the ladies of S/V Moonraker in return for a favour Claes did for Captain Jack). Had a wonderful sleep and slept in till 7:30AM!!!!! Un believable –that is the latest for a long time. While we had a leisurely coffee on the fore deck watching the morning pass we thought of church and that how church to us had always been a place to gather with our faith friends and also a place to worship God. Knowing that that was now not possible we smiled as we realized how fortunate we were that away from the distractions of everyday life we worshipped every day in just being witness to God in His creation. While making a rather substantial breakfast and listening to music on the IPOD………….thank you Brad Minton for the tunes…………..we continued in our Sunday morning.

We left the Bay at 10:00 and attempted to sail out which was short lived as there was little wind. We continued down the coast a mere 20 miles to our destination for the day………..which we have now just arrived to. I will say adios for now and try the wifi for internet. Hopefully talk to you all soon.
