Where does the time go?

It is already Friday tomorrow! We have managed to get to Cape San Quentin and are anchored here after spending the night at anchor at Punta Colnette. It was a good day with many porpoise shows and one whale! We also discovered a sun fish! Very strange creature……….I must research it a little and give you details next time as we could not get too close to it but it just kind of lays there on top of the water with all of its legs up in the air seeking the son! (Sound like something that you would like to do???) I got a few pictures and will send them on if they turned out. We did manage to get in a few hours of sailing as we had some favorable winds today!!! The Captain is pleased.

The day also brought us our second fish. Claes put out a tuna fishing line, which is basically a line attached to the side of the boat with a huge big wooden plug/hook. You just pull along as you go on and it lies on top of the water; the tuna fish feed at the top and jump up and voila you have a lovely fish. This took a few hours to happen but low and behold, I was at the wheel, Claes was just lying down for a wee rest and the line began to do the fish dance. We enjoyed the heck out of two lovely steaks and froze six others. The tail pieces I steamed and Joey enjoyed them for supper. So all got fed up today!!

We intended ongoing a shore to explore as there is a fishing village here and a nice beach but the weather did not co operate; clouds and East winds made it very difficult to go to shore with dingy so we finished our chores instead. Claes produced the first glass of desalinated water with our water maker. Does it ever taste good! I cleaned "house" and made bread. We were in a bay that had a large swell of water so we were rocked to sleep. Joey had a difficult time as he had not been out to "the dirt" all day so of course was restless in the night. I slept on and off and awoke around 4ish……………. I finished my recent book –made coffee and woke up the crew at 5 and we were on our way in the fog by 5:30 am. I had pulled the anchor as I like to do that by hand and count that chore as a good work out………….you sure don't need to join Curves when you are out on a sail boat. (We eat pretty light and are very physically busy so are losing some weight and feel pretty svelte!)

We motored out of our little shelter leaving behind two other S/V that we originally met in San Diego, the third boat left yesterday. She is sailing with her father in law until her husband arrives from the Caribbean. She is from Australia –nice young lady. We hoisted the main sail and jib in hopes of catching the wind and do some sailing this fine 12th day of November. We actually went out a little further today – about 10 nautical miles and were able to enjoy some wind all day and decided that we were doing so well that we would just carry on to "Turtle Bay" which is actually Bahia San Bartolome. That is over 180 miles so will be an all nighter. We are pretty pleased as it is the first time we have had sufficient wind to use the Wind Vane, which is like an automatic plot. It was pretty ex citing. I was rather skeptical but it really did keep us on track and with being out about 40 miles there really wasn't anything to get into trouble with—passed one motor boat all night!!! I really do want to write about this in detail as and promise I will come back to it………I am pretty tired at the moment……it is Sunday 15:34 and we are just outside of the Bay and will make our turn into it within the hour. Today was beautiful especially after the long day that was windy but very choppy. The wind stayed with us so we sailed all day and all night up until about 10 this morning. It was fun and we save a lot of diesel costs!!!

I will try to get this off to you tonight and will blog some more if we have internet. We hope to stay here a few days and just play. We have three more legs to do and we will be in Capos San Lucas. We have nearly four hundred miles to go yet. Talk to you soon.
