The Plain truth of it………..

By Jodi Picoult Plain Truth is the last book I have read.
(Thought I would give you a more detail report on the books we are reading rather than just a list.)

This one deals with a shocking murder  that shatters the picturesque calm of Pennsylvania's Amish country and tests the heart and soul of the lawyer who steps in to defend the young women at the center of the storm.

This is the third book by Jodi that I have read and I am rather taken by her style. She is incredible at taking a modern subject and quilting as it were characters that reflect the everyday emotions and actions of us all….as we are put to question some tough present day issues.

It has been great to come upon book exchanges along our travels. I love it take a book leave a book! Thanks to all of you sojourners that continue to bless me with these great selections. It has been so long since I have indulged myself to read a book in a space of less than a few months. Time is on my side yes, it is!!!!! Yeah!

I can see that this is my…………………….book: Rainwater by Sandra Brown a young lady out of Arlington Texas who has written a story that would not let me go. Set in 1934 with the country in a stronghold of drought and economic depression Ella Barron runs a boardinghouse. Left on her own to raise her sweet young son Solly, who is challenged with a misunderstood behavior which later is labeled autism she dares not let her emotions fail her. The climate of desperation creates a fertile atmosphere for racial tensions and social unrest and as this little but packed novel unfolds you will be bound too I am sure. Yes, there is a good guy and bad guy so get ready for a few tears. It tells a story that bears witness to a bittersweet truth: that love is worth whatever price one must pay for it.

THE SKYLARK'S SONG, by Harriet Segal was a great novel set in the 1930 to present day with the heroine Ella moving to New York city after graduation. The story begins with her being a widow and unravels to tell of her life with a famous composer, her three adult children and six grandchildren. Very much worth the read!

The Captains next read: DOMINION, a novel by Randy Alcorn which asks …." Can one man's search for justice stand up to the forces of evil threatening to destroy him?"

He then began a series by Lee Child, BAD LUCK AND TROUBLE, a slam-bang yarn filled with terse life and death lessons. He is now on the second book: THE HARD WAY.

  1. I am currently reading her book "House Rules", so far it is great. It is about a broken family that has a child with Asperger's syndrome. I read "My Sister's Keeper" before it became a movie and had the ending changed. I highly recommend reading the book..Hollywood just can't seem to keep it accurate. This author is very good.
