Image
Having done this a few seasons now we have it down pat to five days!!!!  Also, we must  be getting used to the weather as we are not as sweaty it seems.  Perhaps we are just not wanting to get back to the SNOW!!! A few of our friends report that darn white stuff in the Comox Valley.  Please Lord, have Your way it by the time we land on Thursday!!!!! Enjoyed a rather relaxing day today- Sunday are usual day of rest.   Yet we still managed to prepare the sails for storage- taking them out of their pretty blue bags and laid out in the sun to dry.   Dis assembled a few more electronic controllers to remove and relocate to a bodega safely tucked away from the dampness and expected rains of the summer.  We are sure please with our experience so far:  so quiet and peaceful here. No stress as the manager Carlito and his son are so organized.  Colette and Murray from ISLAND MARINE  offer 8 mooring balls for long or s...

SPENDING THE NIGHT IN LA CEIBA ATLANTIDA HOUDURAS CA

After a bus ride from Copan, that started at 6 am this morning north to San Pedro to transfer and onward to the coast we found that the ferry had been cancelled due to the weather.  Once again we were met by a helpfull cabbie, who took us around to find a suitable hotel for the night.  We continue to find great places for very reasonable prices: nice big bed, A/C tv and wifi, hot showers and a pool with breakie in the morning for $32.00.  We even have a fridge for the beer!  Mind, you The Captain is already in bed after having a root canal done today!!!

Copan the Mayan Ruinas

Further to My Pondering that I posted earlier today, please know that we are all very taken by what we saw today.  Thousands of years, incredible knowledge, artistic creativity and the hard work since 1897 that it has taken for this archaeological site to be unearthed leave us all four in awe!!!!!  Tomorrow is another early day as we leave on the bus for the Carribean coast heading to Taron and the second largest reef in the world, second only to Australia.  Keep in touch and lets continue to adventure.

PLAYING WITH THE TOUCANS

Image
Check this website out to see what we were up to today!  Had a great time for most of the day walking, watching and enjoying a delicious cup of Miramundo Coffee grown here in Honduras. The fella that owns this place is an American from Alaska. He and his brother in law started out with a few birds and are now involved in rescuing and raising these exotic birds.  It is a fabulous location and set up just perfectly.  They raise the birds as well as rescuing them and release many every year.  The amazing bit of info we discovered today is that the Toucan, the bird on the right mates for life and if and when its mate dies, it in turn commits suicide!!!!  Check their site and learn morn. http://www.macawmountain.com/

SCHUTTLE BUS TO COPAN HONDURAS

Image
The morning came rather early as our departure was for 6 am but the fund raiser last night aka street party went on and on.............in true Central American style:  very loud and noisy!!!!!  The four of us were out on the calle with our packs and had time to find a coffee.  The schuttle was a little tardy and we left about 6:45.  We went through San Salvador City and up to the Guatemala boarder, via Sante Anna and on to Copan arriving without incident around 1ish.  It is warm of course and we have found a wonderful little hotel  La Pasada de Belssy.  Complete with free WIFI, hot water and a small pool we are tucked in for a few days at $16.00 per night.  We have new money to understand too called lempiras, 20 of which equal a US dollar.  Life is good.  We have already figured out the best place for happy hour where the boys will enjoy 2 rums for 35 LLs. We had a really tasty fajitta at Via Via, owned by a trio of friendly Belgians...
