Thank Goodness It Is Friday

Taking a day off today!  You might consider that as well.  It is good for the soul to literally take a day off.  You know................do nothing.  Most of us take a day off and fill it up with all the things that we can't or dont get around doing on a normal day. Somehow, sometimes we are forced in taking a day off...........such as happened to me.  (I fell yesterday on our hike to get to the market--hurt my left shoulder pretty much.........did not break the eggs.         (to the right is a picture of  the road to town)
The locals never seem to be able to tell you that they do not know..........how far anything is or that they do not know the direction to  somewhere.  It is as if they do not know how to say they do not know.........so they tell you something and as a Gringo  you believe them and in your broken Spanish half understand.  To say the least.........sometime you are off on a wild goose chase.  Yesterday, was  a prime example.  The market was suppose to be 4 miles away........turned out that it was over nine.  Half way there I was getting hot and tired so decided that I would stick out my thumb.....low and behold two guys in an old caravan stopped and picked Claes and I up.......our friends were a ways up the road and we later picked them up as well.  So off to the market we went and after a wee rest thought we would hitch hike back to the marina.........not too many cars and the ones that went by were only going to the market.   In my excitement I was looking around at the little village and fell in a bit of a hole...........where the pavement kinda stopped abruptly.........perfect timing asguy in a car was coming up the street and saw me--felt sorry for me and stopped and in we all jumped.  Turned out he could speak English and was pleased to practice it.   So today after taking a "fall"  for the team  I am pretty sore........nothing broken Thank You GOD!
Back to taking a day off............You might wonder what could keep us so busy in our new life style that we need a day off?  Well, the truth of it is that no matter where your are, or how small or big your home is there is always something to fix or do or clean right?  Here the wind brings in salt with the spray from the sea, or sand from the beach and a very fine mist of both. When we are sailing and it get a little wild the salt spray on the windows especially  is thick--just like frost.  Once you stop for the day it is a job for a bucket just to liquidy that coating...........then apply some window cleaner and polish away.  We are blessed with lots of windows for sail boat.  Most dont have as large a windows therefore it is bright and full of light.......we like the light!!!!  The trade off is lots of window cleaning. Thus there is lots of cleaning to do as well as the usual people and cat danderand hair!  Most of our chores take longer to do as we do not have automatic everything:  laundry, dishwasher, vacuums etc.  So once in awhile one needs a day off..............which we took today.

Take a look at the pictures today and you will see an incredible development of real estate going on here out in the wilderness.  Amazingly grand homes being built...........huge estates actually complete with palm trees and an 18 hole golf course.........apparently a football team started the project and now it has been resold.  Wonder if we could afford to buy alot and perhaps just sit on it for awhile.........actually who could afford to build in the style that is started here.  Pretty grand!  Oh, well back to our casa.............the White Shell.....small but comphy and ours..........paid for too!  Untill later................Lue
