Heading for San Fran

September 2, 2009 05:45 up early to make coffee and offer a small breakie for the guys. All is going well as I am making the second batch of coffee for the thermos and oopps. A lurch and the whole darn thing goes flying on my galley floor. I am so fortunate to not have gotten burnt. But what a mess. Go figure…………I don’t even like coffee anymore?????? The day does improve……….my 9-12 watch is great as I anticipate what San Francisco will look like from the water. We are a little over 60 miles away………….I am getting rather excited. My pal Jan has provided tons of broadcast on my I Pod and so I sip my tea and listen……….something about loving people like your neighbor???? No matter who they are or what they are? This fellow calls it the Jesus Creed. Love your neighbor as yourself and you would be amazed at what and could happen in your life. It is now 13:00 hours and I am attempting to finish this up for you all so that when we arrive at Half Moon Bay which is just a skip past ...

A Beam Eurica California

So here I have caught you up to date. It is Saturday August 29th our sons 31st birthday. Hope you are having a great one Ryan! We left this morning by 09:30 am and are heading due south to Eurica California. It has been foggy most of the day but now at 14:45 it is nearly all dissipated and the water is a nice green color a lot like on Savary Island…………Claes saw another whale……….by the time I got the camera out he was gone……………there are a lot of crab pots way out here with about 325 feet of water. They are very dangerous as they can get into your rudder……..and that would not be a good thing. Another thing that you must watch for is the large kelp beds they too can get into your rudder. The wind is now coming from the north so that helps us go a little faster. We travel at about 6 knots an hour………….which is not very fast. We have the main sail up today to help us along and it is rather lovely……..we are praying for following seas and fair winds and in two days we will rest again a...

Cape Flattery and Beyond

That came early as we left the dock at 6:00 am. I had made a few meals before we left so felt that we would all get “fed up” should the seas prevent me from going down in the galley. For those of you who have hung out with me the last while……………you know I was determined not to be sea sick. The next 72 hours would prove to be very exhausting to say the least! If any of you want a quick weight loss plan have I got a plan for you! The Captain was the only one who stayed steady and calm. He is and was an amazing man. God has certainly blessed me with him…………..but then we all know that right? The decision was made to go in to shore to wait out the winds that were on the way later that evening. We were all pretty tired of being bashed around at this point. We arrived in Port Newport, Oregon at 6 am Friday morning. The entrance was long and very difficult to maneuver………………the guys were amazing as the fog was heavy and the light minimal. The Bridge was so beautiful—all lit up and r...
