AHOY MATES!

Under sail and "abeam" of Malibu Beach! It is a glorious day and one that The Lord is certainly blessing us with! I have tried to make our blog enjoyable for you all and have down played some of the weather that we have been experiencing so I really mean it when I call today a blessing from God. It is very beautiful out here especially as it is calm with about 14 knot winds. We need to motor right now to get running hours on the motor for when we have it serviced in San Diego. That means that the winds are not that important as we don't need to sail right now. The water: is a shimmering rich shade of blue turning greenish the closer to shore us get—some spots are pretty shallow as there are a lot of sand bars along the California Coast. It is a very long coast and now the terrain to the left of us is getting a little redder and somewhat greener in spots. (I do miss our lush BC Coast) The sun is shining and there is not a cloud in the sky. Absolutely fantast...

Just checked the weather and we are heading out for Santa Monica in a few hours. Will try to write later if the "swell" allows...............take care and our prayers are that you all remain safe and have fun for Hollow Eve!. Grandma and Grandpa Petri

Good Morning from Santa Barbara California

The second leg of our journey has finally started:  from Santa Cruz we motor sailed to Monteray which is a mere 20 miles across the bay where we anchored for the night.  The sealions are so profuse that we could barely stand it............they are so noisy we had a very sleepless night!  We got up at 5am and left for San Simeon which is at Piedras Blanas Point.  That was an 83 mile motorsail with about 20 knot winds and nice calm swell.  The weather was pretty good but still cold.  It was a long day as we anchored in the bay for the night at around 20:30 (7:30pm).  The evening was so pleasant other than the crazy sealions again...........they are everywhere.  ( They have reserves for them in California and they are quite a concern!!)  As you can tell from the pictures they are messey as well as stinky and noisey. We were lazy the next morning as our plan was to do a short day to San Luis Obispo  leaving  around 9 am.  The wea...
