Katie Kat

Image
For those of you who know us , you know we love our KATZ.  Taking a trip such as this with two of them has been an experience in itself!  They have both been really good.  Now Miss Katie, was a special cat.  She came off the street in Courtenay to live with us two  and a half years ago.  She was not very healthy then but with lots of love and Vet bills she came around and blossomed into the Princess of Kye Bay. Joey just wanted to be friends but she would have no part in it.  I tried to explain to him that she had no Cat friend skills, he being such a social butterfly with other cats as well as humans. Katie was awesome on the boat.  She loved it and was always first to try something new.........like fall in the water.  HAHAHAH!  Seriously she did really well on board.  Through the storms and boisterous times she just hunkered down in the captains suite and rode it out.  She loved it cause she had lots of "lap time"  w...

HEY IT'S FRIDAY

Image
Yes, and as you can see  if you type in Santa Cruz on our little weather cam  to the left side --it is up to 72 degrees today.  It sure was warm as I was out there doing "windows" !  I   think I feel a little crispy...opps!  Lots of action in the harbour as usual.  THE  BIG BLACK boat got hauled out and loaded on a truck and off to Seattle.  It's about 30 years old and has a lot of history in the area.  Not sure if I told you but one of the workers has a boat he is working on; he had no use for a like new stainless steel water tank!!  He gave it to us!  Gabriel is his name???  Such perfect timing as ours had been leaking.  Now with the engine room empty it was so much easier for Claes to remove the old one and install the new one.  So, you see things happen as they should;  our motor is not in yet, but we will so much appreciate all the things that  Claes is being able to attend to.  The...

Captains Pleased!

Image
I have been cooking!  and baking!  Go figure hey.  For one who has not done that for awhile I must say things are smelling and tasting fine!  90 Minute Cinnamon buns   I made these this morning;  the guys in the repair shop enjoyed them and Claes had two!!!! The neat thing about cooking on board is that I do not have alot of equipment or space so one becomes very creative.  IE  used a sponge cake tin--the only baking tin I have.  Worked very slick as the buns came out just fine as I released the clasp on the side of the pan!   I also used yogurt instead of milk as I had no milk. 3 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, divided 1 tablespoon yeast, rapid-rise 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup milk 1/4 cup water 1/4 cup butter 1 egg 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/3 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup raisins, optional Reserve 1 cup flour. Combine remaining flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Heat milk,...

Monday Morning Motor Week

Image
Captain is preparing the wheel house by taking all the canvas off so the guys can come along with their huge C- Clamp which is attached to the crane to pull the motor out around noon today.  It's like the WhiteShell is getting a tooth pulled. HAHHAH!  I will try to document with pictures as we go. This is a picture of Crista and her crew saying good bye to us on Savary...........It hardly seems possible that that was nearly a month ago. Last night we finally connected with Crista via Skype.  It was so great to see the sparkle in her eyes.  Doug and Brody and Mat looked pretty good too.  Hopefully we will catch up with the rest of their family Wednesday as Jacob celebrates his birthday 13 Right Jake??? We blew the budget and phoned Ryan and Sophie as well.  They are in full gear getting ready to temporarily move to Vancouver to deliver the "wee" one.  Their life is sad right now as after over 24 years Jazz, Sophies beautiful white horse has pas...

Image
Met up with Jacquie and Don, folks from Bellingham  that we have be come friends with.  I searched the net last night and found a Faith Community Church so off we went.  They met in an old theatre, with their church office a block away............which was a perfect spot for a Pot Luck BBQ.  Claes figured that was pretty timely!  The service was great and the message all about how Murphys Law is so part of our lives...........check it out: Faith Community Church | Sermons We met alot of fine folks, mostly young; wishing we were staying as they said they need some gray hair in their church family!  Hopefully some of them will check out the blog and follow us as we travel on.  To you Faith Community.....thanks for an incredible morning.  You embrased us and were so encouraging!  May God bless you in your service to other and to Him.
