With a NEW YEAR some changes.

Our calendar brings us a brand new year and inevitably some change.

For some of us we just wish we would wake up and whatever it was that we wanted to change--it would have been transformed in our sleep.  You know like old Scrooge?  Oh! that our life would be that easy.

Here's a little story that exemplifies how some folks just accept change. My eldest sister Colette from Kelowna sent it to me:
A little old lady sold pretzels on a street corner  for 25 cents each. Every day a young man would leave his office building at lunch time and as he passed the pretzel stand he would leave her a quarter,  never taking a  pretzel. This went on for more than three years during which time the two of  them never spoke.
One day as the young man passed the old  lady's stand and left his quarter as usual the pretzel lady spoke to him. Without blinking an eye she said:  "They're 35 CENTS now.'

Change, hmmm interesting phenomena!  (Stay with me here now........certainly this blog is mostly about our adventure out on the sea but  it is intertwined with what is most important to me: family, friends and faith!! )

As we begin this brand new year that some how even saying "2010" has a hugeness about it, we  hope to continue to embrace  the change in our lives.  Sailing is a change for us initially (we were power boaters for years-now there is a change for ya!)

Our days are filled with much change:  weather, which we must be very aware of ; fellow sailors come and go; scenery, God is amazing how He continues to bless us with an ever changing pallet and yes my internet connections!! These are all subject for other another day..right?

Today as you return to your normal week--whatever that is remember: One of the greatest gifts we have is  choice!
