AMBIANCE AND SHRIMP

Thought that might get your attention!!!!  HAHAHHA!
Caught up with our good friends Don and Jacquie from S/V Little Christian, who have just returned from a month up to Loretto..........the area we are just heading up to.  It was great to chat with them laugh and share our mutual thoughts of faith.   Check out there blog  as they are followers of ours as well.
Had a great supper last night at a very outdoorsy restaurant called "La Costa" ---set right on the water in the middle of the boat yard area...............very picturesque as the sun set with the masts all silhouetted.  Very nice!  The ambiance very tropical with dirt floors and palm reeds thatched to make a roof.  It is a rather large establishment--the location where us girls have our SASS gatherings.  The service was impeccable and the food was fantastic.  I dare to say the third best meal out I have had yet.

  • The first was a great steak supper at El Patrons with Roz the other day..........again the ambiance incredible right on the boardwalk of the main drag of the harbour here in La Paz. Beef in Mexico tastes very mild unless it is from the Senora area of main land Mexico.  This was as good as any Black Angus!
  • The second best was the Chilli Rellanoes (Stuffed peppers) in Los Meurtos at El Cadron bar and restaurant..........again the view was fantastic.
  • and now Skewered Shrimp with a little rice and salad!   Phew...my mouth waters just writing about it.

A very nice end to the  day  as it was a busy one finalizing our plans for dry storage of the White Shell.
The result being that we have a spot reserved and will return here to La Paz April 15th to prepare the boat to be hauled out and stored for the summer.
There is alot involved as one must consider the very hot and humid temperatures that the boat will go through till we return. ( we chose this area rather then the mainland because it is not as warm and does not get as much rain). It has been suggested to remove all items from the exterior of course and stow it all away in case of high winds. I will take pictures when the times come so that you can see how it is actually stored.

The interior which is  my department should be all washed extremely well with vinegar to destroy any milddew or mold growing now and then deter it for later.   Items should all be  stored in such as fashion that there will be good air circulation.  Food products must be well sealed of course and all tomato products removed as they may explode in the heat.  (It could get up to 100+ degrees inside the vessel.

We are very happy with the yard that we picked...............it is a government harbour and at the upper end of the esturary so a good distance form the channel.  It is also in a bowl shaped area so very welll protected from the winds and sea. The boat will be well secured on a cement base so The Lord willing we will return to a secure  vessel with her bottom cleaned, sanded and ready to paint.  The bottom paint here is much more protective than ours in Canada..............stuff is growing profusely  our now.  Besides there is probably 20 layers of bottom paint on her which must be removed, primed and redone before we head out next fall.  The tropical waters are very conducive to barnacles and little critters attaching themselves to your hull.  Slowes you down and we cant have that.

To end the evening we came home watch a movie our friends lent us..........Mystery Alaska - agreat hockey movie.  Must worn you there is a little swearing of course and some sexual scenes but it is a great story.  So just prepare yourself and go get some popcorn when you need to!  You Canuck fans will be inspired!

Today we are off to our little faith family............the Christian Fellowship we attend when here in La Paz.  Amazing folks who do some incredible outreach and help the orphans and estranged women of the area! I have a link on the right side if you want to know more..................please pray for them if you are so inclined!

Later today is Super Bowl so for the second time in my life I will attend a Super Bowl Party.............my goodness I am going to the dogs.............or is it Colts?????  Anyways will keep you informed and provide more pictures of course.  Do check the new ones that are there of the GIRLS AT SEA..............and look forward to the SAILORS one in the works............I promise more receipes soon as well.
