WEEK # 1 SUMMER 2010 at BEATUIFUL KYE BAY RESORT

My my what a week we have had so far.  After  weeks of preparation the team pulled it off and we welcomed the two families that make up our first week of summer 2010.  Yes, two families one that has been coming to relax at Kye Bay for the past 15 years and the other a returning family--this time the kids are bringing their kids!  That is how it goes here at the little resort on Kye Bay.

  • The weather has been rather variable but nothing too drastic to complain about.  Besides we are tough on the west coast.  Hahahhah!! 
  • Our pancake breakfast on Sunday morning was a hit and the sun shone most of the day and has been getting warmer everyday.  (Today it was a little chilly though)
  • Tuesday saw us have our first ever Pizza Bake Off and it was a very big success thanks to the dough made by our neighbour Anthony, the quests who partook and Roz who offered the prizes!   Never mind the tasty meal we all had. Check out the pictures in The Gallery for details and up close views.
  • Tonight was Pot Luck Wednesday and wow oh wow what a table full of scrumptious food. Don't you just love pot lucks??  Claes is away --back to camp for the next shift so is crying that he missed it.  He adores pot luck!!!

You must be thinking that that is all we do here all summer is eat.  Well it is a big part of holiday time isnt it?  The little families have been enjoying the beach and each other and are busy making memories.  Two of the boys and their sister used to come here when they were kids......and if you look at the Picture Gallery at the bottom of the blog you will find them all grown up and with little ones of their own.

They love soccer as well so we have alot to chat about as THE WORLD CUP  has become my most recent passion.

Should be interesting this weekend when the last eight teams begin to play for the final quarter.  Love it!!!!  Well should say goodnight for now and look forward to chatting again soon.  If you are a Kye Bay guest please email the other and tell them to check of the blog and the pics.............as it is has begun.

As we travel Panama   as in other  countries there are many many tourist spots  with "things"to buy and bring home  to you all.   Ahh! the decision are many  and can get rather difficult.   Sometimes the memorabilia is best bought with the person making the memory--if you know what I mean.  We do love to shop at least some of us. SAILORS SEEKING SECOND SIGHT OF PERLAS ISLAS

The last few months have certainly been filled with many enjoyable days and peaceful nights We arrived in Panama City in awe of the sight of such a huge skyline of massive buildings which is certainly impressive night or day.  Upon closer inspection it is just another huge city filled with business, malls and people....lots of people.  Some not so fortunate as the large areas of low income buildings is large and not safe to travel in.    Our time with Canadian friends, Roz and Dave was fantastic.   We were pleased that they enjoyed themselves so much and fell into "Sailing life"very well.  The White Shell lent herself to two more bodies on board and all was well. From what the pictures tell you we had a great time sailing to The Perlas Islands, exploring, swimming, fishing and just plain relaxing.  David did amazing things with the guitar and the fishing rod. LOL  It took us a few days to regroup after their departure...

  I woke up today with a touch of a sore throat; not sick enough to make a request for light duty but uncomfortable to the point of not wanting to do much. I forced myself out of the bunk. You know how it is-- if you sleep during the day --night comes sleepless! Not wanting to waste the day sniffing and drinking tea .. i do prefer coffee……I attempted to keep myself busy with my chores. My interest quickly waned and I found myself at my desk……I began sorting through the small cupboard that acts as our filing cabinet. Yes, reminding me of the past  boat rule: all items must have two purposes which now  applies to our land home……here in the Comox Valley.   As I thought  of past years piled high within these  files of book work and accounts for our lives i managed a smile and reached  into the back section of the  cabinet.     I knew there was one file that held no numbers;  this plain ivory colored manila folder secured wi...
