1.  You know the provincial flower (Mildew).
2.  You feel guilty throwing aluminum cans or paper in the trash.
3.  You use the statement "sunny break" and know what it means.


4.  You know more than 10 ways to order coffee.                 
5.  You know more people who own boats than air conditioners.
6.  You feel overdressed wearing a suit to a nice restaurant.
7.  You stand on a deserted corner in the rain waiting for the "Walk" signal.
8.  You consider that if it has no snow, it is not a real mountain.
9.  You can taste the difference between Starbucks, City Blends,
and Tim Horton's.                                                            
10.  You know the difference between Chinook, Coho and Sockeye salmon.
11.  You know how to pronounce Squamish, Osoyoos, Nanaimo and Tsawwassen.
12.  You do not consider swimming an indoor sport.
13.  You can tell the difference between Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, 
Korean and Thai food.                                     
14.  In winter, you go to work in the dark and come home in the dark - while
only working eight-hour days. 
15.  You never go camping without waterproof matches and a poncho.
16.  You are not fazed by "Today's forecast: showers followed by rain," 
and "Tomorrow's forecast: rain followed by showers."                                        
17.  You cannot wait for a day with "showers and sunny breaks".                       
18.  You have no concept of humidity without precipitation.
19.  You know that Dawson Creek is a town, not a TV show.
20. You put on your shorts when the temperature gets above 5,  
but still wear your hiking boots and parka.
21.  You switch to your sandals when it gets about 10, but keep your socks on.
22. You have actually used your mountain bike on a mountain.
23. You think people who use umbrellas are either wimps or tourists.
24.  You recognize the background shots in your favourite movies &
TV shows.

25.  You buy new sunglasses every year, because you can't find the 
 old ones after such a long time.
26.  You measure distance in hours.
27.  You often switch from "heat" to "a/c" in your car in the same day.
28.  You use a down comforter in the summer.                                           
29.  You carry jumper cables in your car and your wife knows how to use them.
30.  You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit under a raincoat.
31.  You know all the important seasons: Almost Winter, Winter, 
Still Raining (Spring), Road
Construction (Summer) & Raining Again (Fall).
33. You actually understand these jokes and forward them to all your
friends in British Columbia or those who used to live here!
So there now you know how to recognize us!!!

As we travel Panama   as in other  countries there are many many tourist spots  with "things"to buy and bring home  to you all.   Ahh! the decision are many  and can get rather difficult.   Sometimes the memorabilia is best bought with the person making the memory--if you know what I mean.  We do love to shop at least some of us. SAILORS SEEKING SECOND SIGHT OF PERLAS ISLAS

The last few months have certainly been filled with many enjoyable days and peaceful nights We arrived in Panama City in awe of the sight of such a huge skyline of massive buildings which is certainly impressive night or day.  Upon closer inspection it is just another huge city filled with business, malls and people....lots of people.  Some not so fortunate as the large areas of low income buildings is large and not safe to travel in.    Our time with Canadian friends, Roz and Dave was fantastic.   We were pleased that they enjoyed themselves so much and fell into "Sailing life"very well.  The White Shell lent herself to two more bodies on board and all was well. From what the pictures tell you we had a great time sailing to The Perlas Islands, exploring, swimming, fishing and just plain relaxing.  David did amazing things with the guitar and the fishing rod. LOL  It took us a few days to regroup after their departure...

MEMORIES……….are made of this!

  I woke up today with a touch of a sore throat; not sick enough to make a request for light duty but uncomfortable to the point of not wanting to do much. I forced myself out of the bunk. You know how it is-- if you sleep during the day --night comes sleepless! Not wanting to waste the day sniffing and drinking tea .. i do prefer coffee……I attempted to keep myself busy with my chores. My interest quickly waned and I found myself at my desk……I began sorting through the small cupboard that acts as our filing cabinet. Yes, reminding me of the past  boat rule: all items must have two purposes which now  applies to our land home……here in the Comox Valley.   As I thought  of past years piled high within these  files of book work and accounts for our lives i managed a smile and reached  into the back section of the  cabinet.     I knew there was one file that held no numbers;  this plain ivory colored manila folder secured wi...
