SAILORS SETTLING IN

Wow…….the first few weeks of our return to our floating home  has been pretty exciting!  We made it back into the water without any incidences and most things are going well.  It is amazing how well everything aboard survived  the last six months intense  heat; I found a couple of candles that had melted, no bugs anywhere.
Claes was frustrated with his little outboard for the dingy as even after leaving it well serviced would  not run to his specifications.  (Don’t think I have ever seen a motor that has stumped him yet but this little 2.5 horse Yamaha is being really finicky).  Sea Otter Jimmey, a fella here discovered a small little plug in the carb that was missing and voila it is working for  1500 pesos.  Since our dollar is doing really well that was a pretty good price.
Yesterday began  the big project of installing the SSB begins. I will report on that as it happens.  Next on the list is to test  the water maker there seems to be a few leaking pipes due to friction sot they will have to be replaced.  The battery system is looking good –we might have to buy a couple of new house batteries.    Claes uses golf cart ones………….and they are pretty common down here so should be okay;   I got my Christmas present early as we bought a new tv and dvd player for the lounge.  Cant wait ………..get the pop corn Captain!!
The galley fared well. I was ecstatic to get running water and wash everything up as the salt in the air leaves a film over everything.  I spent one day washing and re-organizing my cupboards and am pleased to say that I sifted out yet a few more things that just were not being uses.  I love the simplicity of it all and have a few things on a list that I can shop for at the tiendas when I have the occasion to go to town with my girl friends………….which should be arriving any day now.  Get your lipstick ready girls the stores are awaiting.  More about the galley:  It continues to amaze us how very little we need to make a very inviting meal.  We do eat well and are very thankful for that.  ( I made bread yesterday and it turned out okay)  Actually it was an Olive Oil Dough which can be used for pizza, foccasia and other flat breads.    We tried it last night and it was pretty good.
Things to be thankful for are on our minds as we move into a new week and into American Thanksgiving.  The Cruisero Club is having a pot luck on Thursday so should be filling!!  Tonight there is an incredible moon out there, which I have taken a picture of.  God is so creative!!!
We began the week attending a conference about El Salvador and are so impressed with what we heard.  This little country apparently is one filled with people with Big Hearts who are very cruiser friendly.  We are so looking forward to exploring the many beaches and  perfect anchorages……………cant wait to get going.  First things first The Captain says—getting across the Gulf Of California and over to Mazatlan.  Departure will depend on the list of things that are being checked and fixed or added then we can leave La Paz.  We are waiting to hear about the mosquitoes netting that we need for the wheel house.  If that comes in soon we might be in Mazitlan for Christmas.
Well must close for tonight.  It is nearly 6 pm and getting dark.  Talk to you soon and know that you are more then welcome to comment on our post.  Just log on and let us know that you are out there.
Adios amigos……………………..Claes and Lue in La Paz
