THE CAPTAIN CAUGHT A BEAUTIFUL YELLOW TAIL TUNA !!!!
Weighed anchor yesterday morning, January 6th and that would be a Thursday --left Chacala around 7 oclock and made our way towards Bahia Banderas (Bay of Flags), the largest bay on the west coast of Mexico which has about a 20 mile opening. Unfortunately, we had no wind so we motored all the way, which give us the opportunity to make water and top our tank up. Again, it was a blessing at the end of the day to have a nice hot shower.
It was a great day and Claes saw alot of whales, I just kept seeing their tales as they dove down. It was pretty exciting to know that they were out there though. The distance we had to travel today was not far-- just a little over 30 miles and when we motor we got nearly 7 knots an hour...........so it was a short day. Must tell you how relaxing it is when the seas are calm - if one can not sail then at least the motoring is bearable and one can enjoy. The secret is that the seas are calm...............the wave height can be large but if is calm then it just rolls along..............and if the boat is going with it time is lovely.
We noticed many resorts and building along the coast and are very aware that we are approaching a very busy area............probably wont be here long. HAHAHHAH! It is rather over cast but still nice and warm. The water is around 73 degrees...............still not so warm for some but definitely acceptable for these two sailors.
As we approached closer we got two hits on the fishing rods................lost one nice lure and pulled in a beauty of Yellow Tail Tuna.....(Cant seem to get the picture to download so go to the photo gallery to see this big guy).......it was so tasty!!!!! We are always interested in cooking hints for fish so would love to hear from you.
After a peaceful night we are dong a morning stuff........you know coffee, Amiga Net SSB radio and some uplifting reading..............then a tour to town on the bus. Keep on line to hear more.
About 2 miles out of the Bay we saw alot of action with the birds and lots of fishing boats so thought that perhaps we might catch a fish..............Claes always throws a line out when we are under way, which he had done this morning................ all of a sudden the rod went zing............and so did his nice new lure. But then just as he was pulling that in the other the made that beautiful sound and zing we had another fish on. Spent the next ten or so minutes bringing in this lovely creature of the sea!!! They are so pretty. Claes cleaned him up and am just now going to cook a good chunk of it for supper. We have a picture for you...........enjoy!
So fresh fish tonight for supper......thank You Lord for your provisions!
