SAILORS ARE SWEATING!!!!!
It is pretty darn hot down here! Dont mean to aggravate those of you who are either in snow or rain but darn-- it gets warm close to the equator!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Been over a week that we have been in El Salvador and we can tell you that it is a very beautiful country. The Captain decided we needed a holiday so booked us into the Marina so we have been playing tourist all week. Now picture that: early morning Spanish class, swimming in the pool to do a few laps, showers on demand and Happy Hour complete with drink and appy specials! Pretty fancy living and all very reasonable. (I think our tab for a week was around $200. including our moorage and internet.) Yesterday, we moved off the dock and are now anchored right out front with about thirty other boats. We still have access to the pool and all the amenities aall part of the membership of the Cruisers Club for $14 USD.
We have not explored very much yet but are planning on some touring this coming week. There is a small community here at the resort made up workers and cruisers and tourists and a small group of army. ( There is a retreat area here for the soldiers and their families). Tomorrow we will dingy up the river to a small village and hopefully I will get pictures to show you. We did travel up to the bigger town Zacatecouluca to access the bank and do a little provisioning. Had a great ride up with six others in a van.............$10.00 each. The driver took us on bit of a tour on the way back so we could get a sense of the country side. Pretty devastating in some spots..........not much comfort --just very basic living.
Hope to go help at the little elementary school this coming week. I find it very difficult to not be able to help all of these folks. I will keep you posted how it all goes.
Both of us are well, like I said it is very warm but beautiful! Internet is erratic!
We will say good nite and talk with you soon.

Glad you are safe and get into another port. You guys are such inspiration and I'm trying to learn and get out of my comfort zone too. Miss you lots. Oh, remember the devotion you bought Ethan? He has been reading it every night. Every now and then, he'll ask about Grandma Lue and Grandpa Claues. Take care. Love following your blog.
ReplyDeleteHola again! So glad you've treated yourselves to a 'vacation'...we cruisers all know how hard we work at this cruising lifestyle...our choice, of course, but a little pampering now and then is well deserved. We had an adventurous crossing from Maz and ended up in Muertos due to very strong headwinds. Know how much you love this place! Carol & Kelly
