FIRST ANNUAL LAKE RUN A SUCCESS!!!!!

The  day  started a little cloudy and developed into a beautiful sunny day and was a great success!!!! Shinning  over a great turn out of community folks to Empire Days in the small West Coast community of  Cumberland the  two "Bedard "Sisters collected $765.00 for the   5 K Fund Raiser.

It went really well and we both realized that 5 Km is not really very far.  It took us 1 hour and five minutes to cover that distance and I think we could have gone for more!!!!.  What  a great  help your sponsorship was to us and to  the  Pregnancy Care Centre in the Comox Valley--a place that offers assistance to women in crisis...young and old.  
One lady recently came in to the office with an incredible story; now 90 years old she wanted to talk about an abortion that she had had in her youth...imagine carrying that pain and trauma all your life and finally being able to share with someone that would listen and help you heal!!!!   Women then and now have sometimes incredible decisions to make and what a relief to know that there is a safe place to do that. As we travel Panama   as in other  countries there are many many tourist spots  with "things"to buy and bring home  to you all.   Ahh! the decision are many  and can get rather difficult.   Sometimes the memorabilia is best bought with the person making the memory--if you know what I mean.  We do love to shop at least some of us. SAILORS SEEKING SECOND SIGHT OF PERLAS ISLAS

The last few months have certainly been filled with many enjoyable days and peaceful nights We arrived in Panama City in awe of the sight of such a huge skyline of massive buildings which is certainly impressive night or day.  Upon closer inspection it is just another huge city filled with business, malls and people....lots of people.  Some not so fortunate as the large areas of low income buildings is large and not safe to travel in.    Our time with Canadian friends, Roz and Dave was fantastic.   We were pleased that they enjoyed themselves so much and fell into "Sailing life"very well.  The White Shell lent herself to two more bodies on board and all was well. From what the pictures tell you we had a great time sailing to The Perlas Islands, exploring, swimming, fishing and just plain relaxing.  David did amazing things with the guitar and the fishing rod. LOL  It took us a few days to regroup after their departure...

MEMORIES……….are made of this!

  I woke up today with a touch of a sore throat; not sick enough to make a request for light duty but uncomfortable to the point of not wanting to do much. I forced myself out of the bunk. You know how it is-- if you sleep during the day --night comes sleepless! Not wanting to waste the day sniffing and drinking tea .. i do prefer coffee……I attempted to keep myself busy with my chores. My interest quickly waned and I found myself at my desk……I began sorting through the small cupboard that acts as our filing cabinet. Yes, reminding me of the past  boat rule: all items must have two purposes which now  applies to our land home……here in the Comox Valley.   As I thought  of past years piled high within these  files of book work and accounts for our lives i managed a smile and reached  into the back section of the  cabinet.     I knew there was one file that held no numbers;  this plain ivory colored manila folder secured wi...
