EL SALVADOR UPDATE
Information from our young friend Claudia; her family lives near Zacateloca which is inland from where THE WHITESHELL is moored, reported this morning that the most affected areas were communities all along the coast and Santa Tecla, which is north west of San Salvador, the capital of the country. The pictures you see is what it looked like last April when we there.
She further reported that communities nearby the largest rivers, the Lempa River in particular, which is north east of the captial.....have become swollen with waters causing the wash out of bridges flooding of the plantations and completely ruining them. Many families are now without a livelyhood or a place to live. Many are in a shelter until further notice :(
If anyone is interested in helping in any way please get back to me..............and we can work on something. I am certain there are many international organizations that will be providing help but if you prefere a personal representative Claes and I would be honored to do that upon our return. The small village and school in particular that the cruisers are involved with will be our focal point.
Until, then we are so thankful that as far as we know our boat is still afloat and we are all pretty comfortable here in windy, Comox!!!!! Praise God for that!
