REALIZING OUR DREAM TO RETURN TO COSTA RICA

Two weeks has passed so quickly.  Gerald and his familia have been so warm and accommodating; our every need is met and each moment filled with such caring. Our Spanish vocabulary continues to grow and I am beginning to think in Spanish.  I LOVE IT!!

Our first week included getting reacquainted with the town which after seventeen years was expected.  We did find the little Catina where we initially met Heraldo; repainted and with  up grade to the bano it remains one of the downtown gathering places for the fellas.

Zina, Geralds mom is so great at including me in her daily life.  Mind you I am not always certain what or where or who but that is part of the adventure.  Because of our minimal Spanish we are continually surprised.  We both laugh continually as one never knows--quite!!!  It is fantastic and keeps us very interested.

On the 15th, we travelled to San Jose with Gerald as he dropped us off at the bus-he was off to work. (We have not spent much time with him yet as he is finishing up projects for his year end...but soon.)
The hour and half bus ride  took us  Turriable, where we stayed in the apartmento, which  belonged to Geraldos' grandma. (She passed away two years ago at 102 years of age.  She was born in this area to an English speaking mother thus the Caribbean blood in the  Murillo Cuzza family.  Geraldo was brought by her as his mother died at a very young age of 37, when surgery went bad.  He speaks very highly of his abuala and contributes his success to her leading.  The apartment now belongs to Orlando, the youngest of the four children.)

Thursday  in the "Willey", a 1956 restored Jeep with the detailed maps in hand that Geraldso provided  we thrilled to vistas that were breath taking  as we  rode the narrow winding roads of the valley.  If you check your map you will see that we were in the Central Valley east of San Jose half way to Limon, which is the Carribean side of Costa Rica.  The elevations within the valley range from 900 to 1,7887 meters ( 2,953-5863 feet) with weather at the lower levels  suggesting perpetual summer.  As we ascended the volcanic peaks that ring the valley, the air becomes a little cooler.  Moisture levels are at a happy medium.

I must pause for breakfast.............and will return to continue my account of our trip so far and promise to deliver our Christmas blessing to you all soon!!!!
