LANDED AND LOVIN COSTA RICA

This is our first time here  by sea and we are extremely taken again!  Our travel time from El Salvador was short with lots of days filled with sail able wind.  Such a treat.  We found numerous bays to tuck into as our pictures tell.  The few ports we reported to were all very friendly and made our entries very easy to do.   Though our Spanish is still minimal we communicated and built relationship with those in charge.   Folks are usually keen to befriend and we love it.

We took our time exploring the Northern part of Costa Rica and slowly made out way up the Nicoya Peninsula were again we found many welcoming little bays.   The water is so clean and such a pretty green color,  the birds busy each morning and evening its kinda neat to be sung to..   Lots of fishing jumping and Pelican patrolling them as they wait and watch to get their fill.  We were escorted by the dolphins a few times...........they are NOT as playful as our Canadian species..........but still so great to watch.  They produce such a peaceful sense when they are around.   We love them!!!

We are now settled in the estuary which  opens up at Puntaranas and makes its way a few miles up and into the land where there are tons of fishing boats, old new, powerful and panga styled.   There are a couple of marinas and many fishing depots with some residents in between.  There a couple of high rise condo type buildings.............lots going on.   We are not far from Athenas where Gerald's family lives and little over an hour on the freeway to the Capitol city of San Jose.  Back at the White Shell we are tied bow and stern to mooring balls and are very comfortable.  There is a shortage of water depth here but we only draw four feet so we are fine....................strange to see the tide go down to 3 feet and yet we are still floating.   We are close to the Mangroves so have an abundance of wildlife scurrying about and tons of birds singing to us.........each morning and evening.   we'are very comfortably set up and feel very safe with the 24 hour security that the Costa Rica Yacht Club provides as well as the FREE  panga shuttle and WIFI not to mention the nice large, clean pool.

All is well on board and we are getting ready to catch up with Gerald this weekend and begin our Christmas celebrating................stay tuned!
