The Story of guy and gal!

After our grueliing day yesterday a nice fresh fish supper and hours of Skyping with our beloved family and friends.............that is YOU!!!! we had a great sleep. The Captain is a little concerned cause the price of wine here is pretty high and his first mate.......that would be me............is starting to drink beer.  Hmmm not sure if his sharing will go that far but we will see how much he really loves me hey???? We are getting ready to leave and fuel up and on to Puerto Santo Thomas which is a mere 22 miles and a good anchor for the night then on to Punta Colnet which is another 42: making a nice day of sailing if we are blessed with some winds.  This way we are travelling a reasonalbe portion of the day and not wearing ourselves out. The day started early.................we were .off to the immigration office for  9 am and after many pieces of paper filled with form after form and standing in line, paying with paesos we received our tourist visas, temporary permit for the vessell and clearance with customs as well as recognition for arriving and departing.............all for a mere  three hours of our time.  But we are legal now and the WhiteShell II is now a Mexican vessell for ten years!!!!!! The rest of the day was spent at the supermarket to replenish with fresh thins. as we  hope to leave tomorrow morning.........not sure where or how far but we will carry on. It was so good to talk with you all on Skype..................let's try in the morning agian?? Thank you for following us --it does our hearts good to know that!! Yes, it is very similar to RVing but cleaner and not so much traffic!  HAHHAH!  Never have a shortage of water especially now that the Water Maker is ready for the pressure test--tomorrow!  Up until now it has been very much like Canada being the US of A and even up till Ensenada.  Very modern and very commerical  all the way.  We are anticipating that will change soon.. gas in a jerry can and not much shopping until you get to Cabos San Lucas. Yes, it is our home and we love it! After a leisurely morning of stowing away our things and fuelling up we head out of the harbor saying farewell to San Diego. We shared the marine highway with a huge Navel Aircraft Carrier and many other types and sizes of vessels. The sea was calm and the weather over cast with a little sunshine from the east. After a few hours of getting organized with new GPS charts we decided to head for the Coronado Islands, Crown Islands just five miles south west of Tijuana. Knowing that we will need to get up early to make Ensenada tomorrow we plan an early supper of burgers and jo jos. Even though the new motor reacts a little differently than the old Ford I still am able to do my part to help Claes set anchor about 200 yards off shore at about 35 feet. We are surrounded by large fish boats and what appears to be numerous abalone farms on the southern tip of the larger island. On the North end of the island is a small naval station which regulate the comings and goings of the island ...

Yes, in the morning we will stow away our "stuff" and head out of the bay, after fuelling up of course. We are looking forward to making it about 20 miles tomorrow to a place called Puerto Salina. There is no big rush to get to Ensenada, our first port of entry in Mexico, as the custom office will not be open until Monday. Today, we walked to the Customs and Home Land Security office in downtown San Diego to hand in our cruising permit that we had obtained at Port Angeles. It was a beautiful walk as you can tell by the pictures……….a nice park like walk most of the way. A lot of it was along the water ways so it was very enjoyable. We stopped for a nice cup of coffee and the most incredible "Danish" I have ever tasted. Claes loves them and buys them all the time but this was heavenly……..fresh and so tasty. Travelled all day Sunday November 1st in beautiful calm seas with a mere 5-7 knot winds……..not enough for sailing so we motored and added to the hours off running the new motor to have it serviced here Monday in San Diego. All checked out for warranty purposes. As we have been doing we had our own little “time of worship” on board and actually attracted a congregation— porpoise. Yes, I sat on the bow and sang to them, enticing them to jump. I counted at least ten of them. They are so precious…………I just love them! They make me giggle. I did take some video of them and will try to up load for your enjoyment. MARINAS : San Diego is a huge big city with many, many marinas mooring thousands of boat of all shapes and sizes. Some of the vessels that come in are incredible! For example: one left the day after we got here, flying a South African flag and was at least 300 feet long!
