Image
As I begin to write this it is March 27 th , Saturday 14:00 hours, temperature is about 82 with a nice North West wind blowing behind us as we sail down the Canal de San Jose which is in the southern portion of the Sea of Cortez, (Gulf of California to the Gringos). Our location is: N 24'57.507 W110 41.563. Since we last wrote to you we think we have seen some of the most beautiful areas that Baja has to offer--yet!!!!!

The Captains says we depart in the morning

Sounds like the wind has subsided and the forcast is good so off we go toward Aqua Verde............one of my favourite spots.  It is so green and pretty there.  I will share some seeds I have with one of the villagers there as she was busy in her gardenwhen we were there last.  I will let you know how it goes. Here is a picture of her I took last time we were there. Well everyone, do take care and know that your interest in our blog is very special to us.  There are 29 of you now todate that have signed in...........one more would make 30!!  Please try to add a picture so we can see who you are!!!! We will be away from the internet for a while so do  not panick if you dont hear from us.............talk to you soon.  The Petris at Sea

03:45 UP ANCHOR AWAY

Leaving behind S/V Ketchia I and Rob and Kim, we sail away in a south east direction from Isla Coronadas towards the southern tip of Isla Carmen. Thankful that we did leave early we spent the next four hours in a rather large swell that was left over from the day before winds. We did have enough SE wind to sail and though that made for a rolling time it was not unbearable but tiring. Both Joey and I concentrated on regaining our sea legs and were glad to arrive at 09:00 to anchor at 25' 59.675'N 111' 06573'W in the Bahia Salinas just around from Punta Perico South. What a beautiful spot! A picture perfect cove with lots of history and very friendly Park attendants we rested with plans to explore the following morning. S/V Intrepid II , with Kelly and Carol aboard, arrived mid day from Puerto Escondido to a reunion of both vessels as we had originally met way back in the fall. It was a treat to spend the day touring the bay and enjoying a few happy hour...

Good night!

Just arrived back to Puorto Escondido....please  check the posts that I typed along the way and uploaded for you .  I will update again  .......will write more tomorrow.  Lue

ME AND THE CAPTAIN AND A CAT NAME JOEY

Image
You know Captain...... I think when I grow up I want to be a cook on a boat!   Yeah, well honey, don't look now but I think you are all grown up and guess what? You are!!!!! Well then, part of the last seven months have been worth it then. Here I thought it was just one big boat trip and now you tell me that at just about 60, ( I am younger than The Captain!)   I'v gotten all grown up? Go figure! I guess I better take a closer look and see what that really means: I could say it means being able to scratch off a few things off my "bucket list" you know the list that you might make if you knew you only had a short time to live. I could say that it means being balanced: physically, mentally, spiritually –the whole enchilada!!!! I could say that it means having knowledge in this world and the wisdom to make it a better place. I could say that it means having friends, including family that love /like me in spite of knowing the real me! I could...

WAITING OUT A “BLOW”

Image
In sailors talk that means we are anchored in Punta Polpito waiting for the current heavy winds to blow themselves out! That probably is confusing for you as you have been hearing us praying and talking about wanting wind so we can sail. Grab a cuppa and one of these nice warm peanut butter cookies that just came out of my oven and we'll talk about it! Our location is exactly at 26' 30.896'N, 111'26.995" W. Punta Pulpito which is a 475 foot high headland that appears to be an island at first glance but closer to, the low flat land connecting with the point can be seen. A giant vein of black obsidian glass on the point's southern shore exposes the area's volcanic history.

Sunday Morning and We Are Weighing Anchor

Image
After nine days in this area waiting for weather we are deciding to head south towards La Paz.  We have a month to do that in so will stop and enjoy a few dew coves and some that we love-again.  The weather has been warm but the wind has been going the wrong way.............so today we are blessed and we are on our way. Hopefully we will be able to upload the pictures I have been taking  of late.................so that you can keep up.  This one to the right is an example of a homemade anchor that the local "Panga" owners use for their little boats.  Pretty ingenious dont you think???      We have been enjoying lots of  hiking, bird watching, fishing and lots of reading and talking with the locals.  Gotta love it! As of late Internet is intermittent so we will catch up with you all as soon as we can.  Probably within the next week...........dont panic okay!  We are fine. Love you all and remember to take one day...
