SAILORS STOWING STORES SAFELY

Image
Sails, safety rings and all that goes with sailing is being cleaned and stowed away for the following season  - November and onward into the year of 2014  --the past week has been filled with list which is nearly at its end and so is our time aboard The White Shell II.  We are moored back at Isla Contadora with a plan to motor toward Panama City then taking a left turn to Taboga Island where we will finalize the stowing and leave her in the the capable hands of Chue and Susan at Taboga Island Moorings for the summer months.   The galley is nearly empty and the menus are  utilizing what we have.......hmmm some interesting dishes have been produces. LOL  The Captain says all is well and continue to work his plan.  We have intermittent internet so may not be in sfor the next week.   Check us out in Comox at Kye Bay Resort,  April 10th and then our cell phone  250-650-5914..........See you soon. Lue and Claes   so...

Have spent a few days at Mogo Mogo Island and have gotten a few chores done.  Even updated some of the pages on the blog so check them out........on the right hand side of the page.  We have intermittent internet so any communications we have tried to make with some of you has been sketchy.  Sorry about that...........oh well soon we will be face to face.  In the meantime Easter Week has begun here with many huge boats coming and going about the bay.  The local folks are out playing with their toys.  We will make our way over to Bayonetta tomorrow and get tucked in as the wind is suppose to continue to blow till Monday...maybe up to 20 25 which is great for our friends that are on their way to Ecuador    S/V  Guenevere 1....happy sailing you two. Good nite all and remember who came first the egg or the rabbit? Lue and Claes in the Gulf of Panama

WHAT TO BRING HOME FROM OUR TRAVELS?

Image
As we travel Panama   as in other  countries there are many many tourist spots  with "things"to buy and bring home  to you all.   Ahh! the decision are many  and can get rather difficult.   Sometimes the memorabilia is best bought with the person making the memory--if you know what I mean.  We do love to shop at least some of us. LOL   The thrill really is in the hunt right ladies?  and for us grandmas  it is an exercise of love for the "kidz"".  As this Abula searches for just the right color or item I think of the child I am shopping for:  the joy of remembering the voice, the smile and the bright eyes ........ahhhh so sweet!   There are a few authentic crafts here in Panama such as  the Embera Baskets made in the Indian Community  the Emberá basket is a one-of-kind piece and is the result of many hours of labor as well as an expression of the artist's own individu...

SITTING AT ANCHOR AT ISLA CONTADORA

Image
Spent the last week sailing around the Island del Ray, on to San Jose, Bayanetta and now full circle back to Contadora.  The time was spend relaxing and just enjoying with a few weeks left before we return to Canada we are truly taking some time to just take each day as it comes.  Finally, hey?  Funny that........no matter where you are one just continues to fill the days with things that have to get done.  LOL   Really though there are priorities on a day to day basis.  The Captain runs a tight ship. LOL Looking back at the last few months my favourite times are those when we anchor and explore.  Like today,  we took the dinghy and motored off across a small opening between two islands, went to shore and just walked and walked and snooped.   Found a few pipsas, which Claes will drill, drain and serve as a refreshing Coconut drink, especially tasty when chilled.  The shells on the beach are so plentiful, many crushed and ...

SAILING SENDING POSTS --ALL IS WELL ONBOARD

Image
Wow.  nothing for weeks then the posts dont stop, hey!!!!  Such is my life....when we have internet there is a choice of either use or lose it.   Some thing like life hey?   Well we are using it and here we are in the month of March........Ides of March, hey Brutus?  Have you ever been to sea????? Oh, aren't I funny today.  Feeling pretty spunky too.  Brings me to the conclusion that the best times out here are when we are under sail, have a full fridge of fresh fish and vegies -the sun is shining, the diesel is clean and my Captain is smiling.  What more could I ask for?  You know my comment to that is:   God is good and He continues to bless us all we are required to do is take it and run with it.  The picture on the left is part of Carnival,  the festival that happens throughout the entire Sourthern and Central Americas. Though we are looking at the last month of our sailing season filled with lots of...

SAILORS SEEKING SECOND SIGHT OF PERLAS ISLAS

Image
The last few months have certainly been filled with many enjoyable days and peaceful nights We arrived in Panama City in awe of the sight of such a huge skyline of massive buildings which is certainly impressive night or day.  Upon closer inspection it is just another huge city filled with business, malls and people....lots of people.  Some not so fortunate as the large areas of low income buildings is large and not safe to travel in.    Our time with Canadian friends, Roz and Dave was fantastic.   We were pleased that they enjoyed themselves so much and fell into "Sailing life"very well.  The White Shell lent herself to two more bodies on board and all was well. From what the pictures tell you we had a great time sailing to The Perlas Islands, exploring, swimming, fishing and just plain relaxing.  David did amazing things with the guitar and the fishing rod. LOL  It took us a few days to regroup after their departure...
