MEMORIES……….are made of this!

Image
I woke up today with a touch of a sore throat; not sick enough to make a request for light duty but uncomfortable to the point of not wanting to do much. I forced myself out of the bunk. You know how it is-- if you sleep during the day --night comes sleepless! Not wanting to waste the day sniffing and drinking tea .. i do prefer coffee……I attempted to keep myself busy with my chores. My interest quickly waned and I found myself at my desk……I began sorting through the small cupboard that acts as our filing cabinet. Yes, reminding me of the past  boat rule: all items must have two purposes which now  applies to our land home……here in the Comox Valley.   As I thought  of past years piled high within these  files of book work and accounts for our lives i managed a smile and reached  into the back section of the  cabinet.     I knew there was one file that held no numbers;  this plain ivory colored manila folder secured wi...

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017

Image
Brand new Year brand new Plan!!! We are reminded once again how quickly time goes by.  Last year at this time The Captain and I were in different locations; he in Costa Rica battling boat issues and I reconnecting with winter.    2016 was filled with many blessings:  we reconnected in March and began a normal Canadian life.   Whatever normal is hey?   The months went by as we worked and raebuilt our "land" home here in Courtenay,   Reconnecting with our faith - family and friends we found pleasure in the simple things. So much fun....camping and  working in the garden the seasons blosomed and faded and November came and went with lots of rain.  With both Claes and I returning to work  we were busy. December was so special as we experienced the beginning of our Canadian winter and family traditions of the holiday season.   As we celebrated Our Lords Birthday at Christmas we recalled many of you as memories flooded in........

SPRING HAS SPRUNG -SAILORS SMILING

Here we are this fine April day posting from our beautiful Comox Valley Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada.  The winter was mild for all of us with Claes and I returning to The Whiteshell  in the beginning of November.  She fared well at Tobaga Island Mooring Panama.  The Captain and I were keen and able to get her out of "bed" so to speak and underway to the Big City in record time.  The past ten years have taught us much and we were rewarded greatly by leaving her nice and tidy in the first place. It was a bitter sweet time as our decision for the season was that together we would prepare  Her for her return voyage to Mexico but I would not be sailing this season!  Toughest decision I ever had to make!!!  The reality of it never hit until I bid My Captain and his crew farewell and I flew to Cost Rica and onwards to Mesa Arizona to celebrate Christmas with my siblings. The Captain finally made it to Puerto Maderia Chipas Mexico where he...

SAILORS ARE BACK

Season Seven begins with The Captain and I flying into Panama City Panama SA  Novrmber 5/15. After a red eye flight Vancouver Toronto Panama we treat ourselves to a lovely sleepover in The  Amadora Ocean View Suites before heading by Ferry over to Tobaga Isla where our S/V Whiteshell II has been moored the past eight months. (For those who are wondering what happened to season six?????  Due to the lack of internet speed our adventure was documented  via Face Book for the most part.  Last season found us travlling for a week to Ecuador  from Panama arriving in the  estuary  at Bahia de Caraques. Our stay was short but we managed exploring Columbia for three weeks by bus and returning to Canada for our summer.  In early December back to Ecuador with a quick road trip of the interior of the country we departed to Panama.  The trip was memorable!!!!!! Please join us on our face book page for details and lots pictures.) Now back to the p...
