On to Port Angeles Friday

With Friday morning in front of us a few lesson already learnt we headed across Juan de Fuca Straight for Port Angeles; without incidence we sailed into the industrial port that reminded us of Powell River….the mill town we lived in for over 30 years. We tied up and proceeded to contact the customs officer. With very little concern the nice young man asked us a few questions sold us “decal” and Cruising permit and welcomed us to the U S OF A. We enjoyed a relaxing evening with the two Katz slowly venturing out on the dock to inspect more boats. After a nice supper and a glass of wine we went to our bed early. Bright and early Saturday morning Ron and Patricia arrived on the dock asking permission to come aboard! It was so great to see them as they had both been very instrumental in procuring many items for our voyage. Ron you are fantastic with your research abilities and contacts. Thanks Man! Leaving Comox and on to Port Angeles

AWAY COMOX HARBOUR After many month of preparation and many years of dreaming “The Captain” and I, our small feline crew of Joey and Katie left the Comox Harbor at high noon on August 19th, 2009 aboard our vessel The White Shell II! The previous weeks had been filled with emotion as we bade our many dear friends and family farewell. The glorious day had finally come. Our hearts were sadden yet pounding with anticipation; we shoved off. As we left the fuel dock we heard and saw Jen and Dan of the . on the dock hailing us on with flares and noise makers a very memorable send off! Thanks guys. As we motored out of the marina I turned back every few minutes to get one last glimpse of our lives in the beautiful Comox Valley………………now we were really off on our adventure. It was really happening! Initially we were not provided with much wind so we motored…… past The Spit where many years ago Claes was a young sea cadet…...
