SAILORS SAILING SMILING AND SMELLING!

Once in awhile as we are either enjoying the outer deck in the early evening a delicious odor fills our senses...........have not figured out exactly which tree and or plant is emitting this incredible smell but we sure are enjoying  it.  The weather is actually not as warm the further we go towards the centre of Panama.  We are NOT complaining as it has been unbearable to this point............folks we hear from via the SSB radio are saying that the water temperature in The Peralas Islands, which is our final destination this season is around 63degrees.  Does not bother me at all.   It is nice to have a refreshing breeze in the evening and be able to have a comfortable sleep.  It is still very hot when it is boat chore time............like today:   cleaning the exterior decks, windows  helped me burn off a few more calories and pounds of body fluid weight.  The Captain is fading away to a shadow!!!! We have had a very nice c...

PANAMA ISLA PARTIDA

Image
Fantastic day sails from isla to isla which started at the northern tip anchoring at Playa del Socorro then around the eastern side of it to spend the day and night at Ensenada Varadero.  As you can see from the pictures there are many many islands, with alot of rocks so navigation is precise and very challenging.  The Captain does amazing things out here and contiues to find us spectacular places to visit.  It is very fine indeed as we sail/motor leaving early in the morning and arriving early in the afternoon so we can enjoy the area before dark.  Perfect plan includes a swim and an early supper- tonight of fresh tuna!  HMMMMMM Yesterday, while having our morning coffee and contemplating our hope for walk about  we could hear music.  And of course that purked us up.  ( the anchorage the day before though very beautiful was a privatly owned spot so we could not go for our so wanted and needed walk.)  It does take us a little time to prepar...

SAILORS SETTING OFF FOR SIGHTS UNKNOWN

Today, was laundry day in and around the rain drops.  It does rain alot in this area....the southern tip of the country is know for it and we have had our share of it the last week.  Not worry The White Shell II is nice and clean and the laundry nearly dry. LOL  Today we also walked down the street and found a great super mercado   LA COSTA  which offered us a free ride home after we shopped.  What a treat!  The service was incredible including the butcher who answered all my questions and even helped me pick out the best coffee.  Complete with toys, crayons and toothbrushes to trade in Panama along our route we stowed all away and made for the FISH HOOK Restaurant for a lovely supper overlooking the bay. Tomorrow bright and early we will take on some new clean diesel and set out of the country heading for  Panama.   Not sure when we will have net connection again so know that we will be well taken care of and will check in w...

SAILORS SOAKEN & SLEEP DEPRIVED

Yes, we are still in Costa Rica!  Stopped in Tourtouga Isla to clean the bottom of the boat.....nice spot  though busy during the day with tourista.......on to Punta Leon where we met up with S/V  Risk Taker and M/V  Beverly J..............enjoyed the beach and incredible "pool"time in the big ocean.  Got up early the 19th  to make our way to Quepos...........about 36 miles...........arriving to the new marina   Pez Vela........pretty fancy.   $50.00 dollars to land the dinghy.............hung on to the anchor for a rolly  very rolly night  complete with rain...........lots of rain.............like all night.  Incredible.  Got up to what reminded me of Port Hardy. LOL Oh well everything is clean and now we know where are leaks are!!!!!  Apparently the next section of coast is very much touched by weather such as this............so we are now ready. LOL  Hoping to pickup a few gallons of clean diesel...

FIRST MATE TREATED TO SPA DAY

Ahhh  life just does not get better than this:    pool time complete with a few hours of pampering.  Illaya, our ever so fine hostess at the Yacht Club continues to go over and beyond  the call of her duties.  After travelling to two nearby communities I could not find an appointment to get a little clean up for the wedding on the weekend.  Got some new sandals but the toes were looking pretty rough. LOL   Tanned feet look so  much better with a little paint on them....even The Captain agrees. Providing an air conditioned room, a very gifted estatician that came right to the club I am now displaying pretty toes and hands....................thank you thank you...........now I can get on with my packing.

SWEET SURRENDER FOR THE SAILORS

Image
Incredible day yesterday!    January 06-2013  the diesel decease was cured!!!!              The Captain came up smiling and I glowed with accomplishment as the decks shone after a couple of hours of scrubbing and cleaning.  THE REWARD  did not end there.......we felt so accomplished having a successful day with the end to our challenge of dirty diesel. We retired to the POOL!!! Claes will filter the remaining 20 gallons which he will  pour into the tank and hopefully the new filters will arrive as promised (they did!!) and all is well on board. (He still has to clean his engine room but that is a minor at this point.)  LOL We spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool and then returned to the boat for a lovely fish supper.  It was one of those nice evenings with not too much humidly so both had a great sleep.  Thank You God for the end to the saga................
