SAILING SENDING POSTS --ALL IS WELL ONBOARD

Image
Wow.  nothing for weeks then the posts dont stop, hey!!!!  Such is my life....when we have internet there is a choice of either use or lose it.   Some thing like life hey?   Well we are using it and here we are in the month of March........Ides of March, hey Brutus?  Have you ever been to sea????? Oh, aren't I funny today.  Feeling pretty spunky too.  Brings me to the conclusion that the best times out here are when we are under sail, have a full fridge of fresh fish and vegies -the sun is shining, the diesel is clean and my Captain is smiling.  What more could I ask for?  You know my comment to that is:   God is good and He continues to bless us all we are required to do is take it and run with it.  The picture on the left is part of Carnival,  the festival that happens throughout the entire Sourthern and Central Americas. Though we are looking at the last month of our sailing season filled with lots of...

SAILORS SEEKING SECOND SIGHT OF PERLAS ISLAS

Image
The last few months have certainly been filled with many enjoyable days and peaceful nights We arrived in Panama City in awe of the sight of such a huge skyline of massive buildings which is certainly impressive night or day.  Upon closer inspection it is just another huge city filled with business, malls and people....lots of people.  Some not so fortunate as the large areas of low income buildings is large and not safe to travel in.    Our time with Canadian friends, Roz and Dave was fantastic.   We were pleased that they enjoyed themselves so much and fell into "Sailing life"very well.  The White Shell lent herself to two more bodies on board and all was well. From what the pictures tell you we had a great time sailing to The Perlas Islands, exploring, swimming, fishing and just plain relaxing.  David did amazing things with the guitar and the fishing rod. LOL  It took us a few days to regroup after their departure...

Brother Rob and Sister Irene have reported difficulties in viewing the recent pictures of our adventure.  Just checked out to see if all is well and this is what I found: On the right hand side of the blog page you will see a list of pages that are offered on the blog for YOUR viewing pleasure.  As you click on each one of those pages you will find different topics.  Looking for photos you must go to the page entitled  OUR STORY IN FOCUS.  Click on that page and you should be redirected to our Photo Albums that are all saved on our GOOGLE ACCOUNT.  I have personally gone over each album and set it as being a PUBLIC view so you should be able to view the most recent pictures.  They are saved chronologically.  You will see the album cover picture and when you click on it you will be given options to view it as a slide show.  PLEASE TRY IT OUT AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND. NOT SURE IF THIS IS A REPEAT BUT WELL WORTH MY THOUGHTS AGAIN

Our time in and about Costa Rica has come to an end.   Somewhat bitter sweet as we do LOVE this country, our friends here and the feeling of home that has grown in our hearts.   Looking back to 1994, 1998 and last seasons’ 2012 visits we are   filled with memorable months of land travel that   afforded us the   opportunity to really experience this beautiful tropical country.   We truly do have a sense that we “know” this part of Central America.   To date this season highlight has been sailing here and raising that Costa Rican courtesy flag, (which signifies the country that you are visiting).   Yesterday, January 27 th , 2013 we departed Golfito and spent the night at Punta Balsa which was about 50 some odd miles travel for the day.    We did sense a difference in the weather.   First of all no afternoon rain and the presence of a breeze that was refreshing.   We arrived just in time to anchor before the sunset and to wa...

SAILORS SAILING SMILING AND SMELLING!

Once in awhile as we are either enjoying the outer deck in the early evening a delicious odor fills our senses...........have not figured out exactly which tree and or plant is emitting this incredible smell but we sure are enjoying  it.  The weather is actually not as warm the further we go towards the centre of Panama.  We are NOT complaining as it has been unbearable to this point............folks we hear from via the SSB radio are saying that the water temperature in The Peralas Islands, which is our final destination this season is around 63degrees.  Does not bother me at all.   It is nice to have a refreshing breeze in the evening and be able to have a comfortable sleep.  It is still very hot when it is boat chore time............like today:   cleaning the exterior decks, windows  helped me burn off a few more calories and pounds of body fluid weight.  The Captain is fading away to a shadow!!!! We have had a very nice c...

PANAMA ISLA PARTIDA

Image
Fantastic day sails from isla to isla which started at the northern tip anchoring at Playa del Socorro then around the eastern side of it to spend the day and night at Ensenada Varadero.  As you can see from the pictures there are many many islands, with alot of rocks so navigation is precise and very challenging.  The Captain does amazing things out here and contiues to find us spectacular places to visit.  It is very fine indeed as we sail/motor leaving early in the morning and arriving early in the afternoon so we can enjoy the area before dark.  Perfect plan includes a swim and an early supper- tonight of fresh tuna!  HMMMMMM Yesterday, while having our morning coffee and contemplating our hope for walk about  we could hear music.  And of course that purked us up.  ( the anchorage the day before though very beautiful was a privatly owned spot so we could not go for our so wanted and needed walk.)  It does take us a little time to prepar...
