NEWS NEWS!

We watched the news on the computer tonight.  It was cool.  Claes never believed me that we could do that......now I am going to try to find a movie.  We are not expecting more than an increase of 1-2 feet in the water after the earthquake and subsequent Tsunami alert.   Thank You GOD!

Katie May Kat Laid to Rest

At the end of a beautiful fall day a young man, who we later found out was named Diaz, sauntered over to ask Claes if we had a cat.  "Yes, we do. We actually had two," replied Claes explaining that we assumed the other cat, Katie had been sick and disappeared. Diaz and his friend had gone out the day before for a short sail and discovered our Katie curled up in the bow of his little "old" boat. It was actually given to him and he works on it in between  a job on the dock  and a few short day trips.  He was very considerate to spend time with us and explained that they gave her a sailors burial at sea!  Katie always liked to hide. Since we have lived on board, she would  at every opportunity upon  arrival  at a dock  find the oldest boat and  "hide".  It was just one of the things that she did to show her independence.  She did not stay long but she did enjoy hiding on us. We are so thankful now that we can think that she ju...

A BRAND NEW WEEK!

Image
The weekend was fun- our date to Lil Tampico was very fun.  Just the thought of getting a little dressed up and going out was worth it all.  We were somewhat disappointed in the Mexican menu.........we were  looking for ethnic fair and got a very American version.  The folks were very nice so all was not lost. The folks at the Faith Community we see on sundays for church are starting to call us regulars!  Think I might join the ladies for their tuesday gathering tomorrow.  I will report on that later. Today was bread baking day.  Yet another receipe from the internet.... looks pretty fine as I just pulled it out of the oven.........small loves but smell really good.  Homemade pizza for supper.  One thing is for sure we continue to eat well. The guys did start on the motor  mounts today, which have to be redesigned.  I will add a picture of the new panel Claes was working on. I finished my fifth book last night.  I thin...

Scorching Hot Saturday

Phew!  up to 86 degrees today.  Chores have been  light and we are off to find a beach! Captain reconfigured the instrumentation panel for the new motor today and the mechanic promises to begin early Monday morning with a tentative test sail on Friday finishing up with a bonus "out for dinner" for us! I have a craving for lobster. Will let you know how that goes for me. HAHAHA! I spent a good part of the day window shopping in downtown Santa Cruz yesterday.  What a nice and clean city  replesant with hospitality people walking around to assist you and directories on the streets.   Everyone was very friendly and again the merchants rather hungry for sales.  I found the hugest  used book and music store!!!!!!  I entertained myself for over an hour.........did not buy anything but sure had fun. As I sat at an outdoor table of a little deli I marveled at the coming and going of the people, some dressed in their fall colors and warme...

Another beautiful day in Santa Cruz

C heck out the new album in our photo gallery just to the left of this post.............Claes and I went for a nice long walk this morning.  When we left it was a little foggy but eventually it cleared up. We did not have to go very far but had alot of different photo opportunities.  It takes us a long time cause I am forever stopping and clicking away.............so here you can benefit  from my exercise this morning. Yesterday I was out scouting for some fish to buy  and a guy had just come in with his catch and he gave me two little cod---- free!!  We finally had a fish supper.  I will try to bring him some cookies when I bake next.  Word is that the catch is becoming more profitable. The commercial guys are getting ready for the crab season which starts in November. Hope to go to downtown Santa Cruz tomorrow............wish you gals were here.  Claes is not a very good shopper.  Probably will be cheaper bringing him along.  HAHAH...
