WANTING YOU TO NOTE A FEWTHINGS THIS FINE DAY

Image
My preference is to change and re-do and re-organize.  It is part of who I am.  Continuity is good but  the to enjoy and experience  newness of things is refreshing. Keeping in line with my self I changed the template of the blog the other day.  All was looking great with some new colors and different layout; gadgets on the right side of the page instead of the left.  Even though it looked fantastic it did not work.  Goes to enforce that old saying:  looks are not everything.  My dear sister Irene, (who just returned back to Red Deer Altbeta from Mesa Arizona) who is my un official site supervisor said that the Picture Gallery,  which she loves so much was not available.  Gotta tell you I got up at the crack of dawn this morning to a beautiful sunrise.  Somehow I just cant get bored with them.  I fiddled with the template and had to take second choice but now my pictures are there for you.  Please if you have not v...

Shopping in Los Muertos

Yes, time to scout out some provisions, which is not always easy.  Spent the last couple of days looking for options on how we were going to trek over 9 miles to the closest grocery store.  I say store loosely, as these establishments are not grand in size, the service is done by yourself and the inventory usually very minimal. Such was the case today but we got basically what we needed: eggs, milk, some vegies and beer. How we got there was rather interesting of course.  The young man in the restaurant attempted to be helpful but really he much preferred that we eat there right?  So, he didn't really say no, but he was not very clear as to how we were going to get a ride.  We could have talked to a few gringos that come and go from the near by rv park but they were  engrossed in their beers and meals so we watched and sure enough every morning a van would come by, drop off folks to rent the pangas (little boats) and away they would go fishing for three...

Happy Sunday !

It is a beautiful day today, with rather calm seas and temperatures in the mid 70's.  We have had a very laid back day as I am still not feeling my chipper self.  Definitely am fighting an infection which is in my bladder now........so am on meds and lots of waterdowned cranberry juice that I miraculously had on board!  I am not one who is a very good "sicko" so am a little frustrated.  Captain is being ever so sweet.  Thanks Claes. After listening to some pod casts from Santa Cruz Faith Church................the little church in the old movie theatre we discovered way back in September...remember.  (There is link on the side here to it......if you are interested in knowing where are minds are at today?)   The day has passed and we will relax on the benches in the wheel house an watch the sunset  and later have some pasta for supper.  Hope to Skype the kids. Good night!

Curled up and drinking tea!

Got the flue so will catch up with you as soon as I am better.  Still warm here but a little windy at the end of the day.  Not complaining..............Have a Mexican Navey Ship at our stern tonight...........so we should be safe!!!! Good night  Lue

I know we have all been pretty occupied with the Season and all that goes with it:  family, friends and oh so much food and drink!!!  With the Christmas Season nearly behind us we can get back to normal  whatever that is????   You know some traditions celebrate well into January as no one is really certain when the exact birth date  was, so to  my  Ukrainian friends and brother in law Bill -- Merry Christmas.  (Could someone write back and tell us how to say/spell  that in English??)

With a NEW YEAR some changes.

Image
Our calendar brings us a brand new year and inevitably some change.   For some of us we just wish we would wake up and whatever it was that we wanted to change--it would have been transformed in our sleep.  You know like old Scrooge?  Oh! that our life would be that easy.   Here's a little story that exemplifies how some folks just accept change. My eldest sister Colette from Kelowna sent it to me: A little old lady sold pretzels on a street corner  for 25 cents each. Every day a young man would leave his office building at lunch time and as he passed the pretzel stand he would leave her a quarter,  never taking a  pretzel. This went on for more than three years during which time the two of  them never spoke.  One day as th...

COME LOOK BACK AT A FEW YEARS WITH US

Image
"If I knew being a Grandfather was so much fun, I would have done that first!"  Grandpa Petri               The last few years has blessed us with a total of eight grandchildren.  Periodically we include them in our blog as they are very special to us both.   The following are not true stories and the names have been changed to personalize them with our own grand kids.  The pictures are legit though!!!  Trusting that you will enjoy:   A grandfather was at the beach with one of his grandsons when the four-year-old  ran up to him, grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore where a seagull lay dead in the sand. 'Grandpa, what happened to him?' the grandson asked. 'He died and went to Heaven,' the Gandpa replied. The boy thought a moment and then said, 'Did God throw him back down? Grandma had spent some time teaching one of her grandsons  The Lords' Pr...
